The Social, Publika

My bestie date me to hang out for a relax saturday. Here we are for the happy saturday, Publika.
First time, i came to Publika was brought by one of my zi muiz, thanks to her i know this lovely place which its interior design is different compared to any other mall. This place are full of quirky decorations, bistros, boutiques and art galleries, a place where all the visionaries and artists gather.  Frankly speaking, i like this place very much to see this art culture stuff. "Life without ART is boring". Don't you think so? even the earth contains ART, "earth" without "ART", is just "eh".

Anyway, me and my bestie went to Social, Publika have our lunch+dinner as she suggested.
Social, this place's interior design is so rustic especially the timber style decoration. They do serve liquor, cocktails and wines as you can see is all on the rack.

Here's their menu. Looking to the menu, there are many choices and looking to their price are quite pricey as i expected but it still depends what you order. For a student that haven't start earn money by myself consider a luxurious meal, though once in a while have to pamper my stomach and enjoy my life.

Hmm..don't know why every time come this such a place i would like to try their coffee up, normally i will order either flat white or latte, as i like white coffee, instead of dark coffee. So i order one latte to kick start my day up, as i am a coffee lover and a piece of cheese cake. A slice of cheese cake and a cup of not too sweet latte is the perfect match dessert. I start my dessert first instead of my main course. Hohoho... weird eating style huh? I refer ends salty food although dessert should come last.

Latte -RM8; Cheesecake- RM10

A latte with coffee art, so far i didn't get any latte that come with a special coffee art, is either a leaf or a love shape. I like surprise by the coffee art. Anyway will search for that the next. :>

For main course, me and besties choose pasta : spaghetti carbonara with turkey bacon and  muShROOOMM (in cheesy creamy sauce) & penne pesto with grilled chicken (tossed in basil pesto and pine nuts)

Spaghetti carbonara - RM22

Nice carbonara, creamy enough and the mushrooms are so nice. Besides turkey there is another choice which is smoked salmon.

Penne pesto with grilled chicken -RM24

Spaghetti tossed with basil pesto, well i would say if you don't like basil taste you better don't choose this. Most of my friends cant accept the smell. Anyway, to me this is not strong enough, they don't have tense basil as i love basil a lot. But for others who don't like intense basil taste, this is just nice.

Bukit Tabur West Hike

Early in the morning as in 4.40am we have to wake up for the early hiking due to we want to see the sun rise. Anyway luckily we manage to crawl out from the bed. We stat depart from PJ around 5.00am. Everyone still in their sweet dream. Finally we reach the destination around 6am. It is still a total dark for us to hike, so it is necessary to bring along headlamp to hike. It's good that you hike with big bunch of people especially those experience hikers. This is my first time to follow my friends to hike this bukit, according to them is dangerous and a bit tacky. So is better you train yourself and hike a few bukit before you go there or guide by experience hikers. To me i am kinda beginner to this type of bukit.

Bukit Tabur is also known crystal hill. As i know, Bukit Tabur divided into few trails which are Far east, west, east extreme and more. Bukit Tabur is located at Taman Melawati in Kuala Lumpur. This hill is a  magnificent limestone ridge. Why it is call crystal hill, is due to the hill contains quartz crystal which appear on the surface of the limestone. We start hike around 6am, everyone steps are so fast to rush before the sun rise. Finally we are up to the place to watch sun rise but the sun grandpa haven't wake up so we are waiting and start ss-ing. The first response of me is WAAAHHHH....This is amazing..so nice..is like you are in Heaven!!! 一片云海仿佛孙悟空驾雾腾云。 Thanks to my friends brought me to this place. No regrets to my decision and take risk to go there.

Sun rise!! with the lake view and the cloud

You know what? I thought this was the final destination who knows is actually first station, first peak, there is another 8 peaks more..sweatsweatsweat...-.-" alright, after rest and watching sunrise we have to keep moving on. We pass through two stop point which is quite dangerous and have to be careful. One point is use the handle to cross over (which dont have picture to show) another is as shown below have to use rope slowly go down) where you need people to tell you where your leg should put. You might say it seems easier, try it yourself then you will know.

Finally, the above two pictures displayed is the last peak of the journey, which no any route for you to move on. Hiking over this 9 peaks take around 3 hours included rest and ss-ing This is not the end, cause we have to hike down the hill. Before we go back, everyone rest and have a cup of nice coffee prepared by other hikers. They all are so nice, bringing things up and share with everyone.I think i am too addicted to coffee, the moment we smell the coffee brew we are like suddenly awake and after drank it cant feel any tiredness. Again, never forget to take a big group of hikers photo. This is my first experience to hike bukit tabur.

As they are still resting, i decided to go down first, hiking the part that i fear the most is going down the hill. Dont ask me why, i just not that fast and like a tortoise. I try to becareeful but one most important thing i forget is to cut my toes nails. So going down the hill is like killing me. In the journey of going down i try to balance myself as much as possible but i didn't use proper way to go down according to one experience hiker. In the end, i slip and 'sit' on the ground.

That uncle told me i have to curl my toes up and go down in small step. So that my toes' nails wont feel pain, if not my nails will break. Yeah, i cant imagine how's my nails condition, for sure very terrible due to the consequence of having long nails and wrong way of going down. My nails all turn into purple red..T.T i take this as lesson, i sure remember to cut nails before i go hiking. Sigh, still i try to tahan and adjust the way i going down to finish up the whole.

Finally mission accomplished!! :)

After the long hour of hiking (actually not that long most of the time is ss and rest), we start hunt for food as everyone is hungry. First we went for cendol and then have steak for our lunch

Cendol and Restaurant Ampang

Cendol:
We have this in a mamak, seriously don't know where is the exact location. But all i know is opposite the BHP petrol station, Taman Melawati and beside the Sekolah Kebangsaan Taman Melawati 2. That mamak is just along the road side. Thanks god there is no raining on that day which is a good weather for hiking. However is hot and stuffy, so cendol is the best treatment to cool down everyone especially after hiking. Here is the cendol, Yummy... My favourite corn and kidney beans...In cendol most important is the kidney bean got taste but kidney beans don't have the bitter taste.
Cendol- PASS!! After hiking, i don't feel hungry instead i feel thirsty but after the cendol retreat my stomach start growling. Time to find main course!
Restaurant Ampang 安邦中西茶餐室

After cheking the menu, there are too many choices till we feel like try as many as we can. So we decided to choose combo set which contain two types of choice meats (chicken or pork) and seafood (prawn). We order sizzling chicken (black pepper gravy) with big prawn and sizzling pork (garlic gravy) with big prawn and share among four of us. The portion of the food are quite big as for girls appetite for guys i think they are just enough to fill them up. We order hailam tea for drinks since everyone didn't try before.

Sizzling chicken (black pepper gravy) with big prawn.

Sizzling pork (garlic gravy) with big prawn.

Hailam tea drinking session: Yum Seenggg~~~~

This is the restaurant boss extra give us.

When we almost finish our food, guess what? Restaurant boss serve us two plates of lamb ribs for free maybe he saw us big bunch of people come and eat here, so give us to try this ''lamb spare ribs" with secret gravy. Hurray, my favorite lamb meat. Hehehe... Lamb meat of course is little as is spare ribs part but the gravy really not bad quite nice, perfect match. The lamb spare ribs are nicely marinate and match with the gravy which did not really over-mask the lamb taste.

Overall rating: 4/5
Price range: Average and affordable
Environment: Ok but A bit 'romantic' not so bright environment.

Birthday card (2) for my deer friend

It was my friend's birthday. I know her less than one year. She is very friendly and cheerful. Although we are not knowing each for long, yet she is always there to accompany me to go through tough time, bring me out to eat nice food, ask me out to join her some nearby nice places, some special events and influence me to have the interest to take photos.

As days go by, i found out she is a traveller. She likes to travel to every corner in this world. So when her birthday, i decided to make a card for her, a simple one based on the theme of travelling.

Bukit Gasing 19.2.2012

Early morning 7.30am, we depart to Bukit Gasing Forest Park, Petaling Jaya where near to University of Malaya even the weather not really on our side~~drizzling. Due to yesterday rainy day, the path is muddy, wet and slippery to walk especially the steep part of path. In the middle of hiking, we were quite lost when there is junctions since none of us remember the map well. Luckily, the hikers are very nice, telling us which way should we go.

Bukit Gasing is one of the best place for those living in PJ seeking exercise. In the heart of the city, this is the only nature place full of tropical trees and nature sounds. A nice place to hike and have a morning walk. No entrance fees but no toilet, limited parking space, so carpooling is advisable.

So excited and waited for long of this coursemates trip. We planned to go UK farm, which located at Kluang, Johor and makan makan trip at Melacca.

First day, 25/2/2012
Early morning 8am, everyone gather at my house depart from PJ. It took us 3 hrs plus to reach UK farm. When we reached there, stench of goat droppings wafted through the air. arrggg~~~
UK farm
lobby

By the time we reach there is almost lunch time, so we decided to have lunch before we proceed our visit in the farm.We order 5 dishes : fried goat meat with passion fruit, ''tortoise beans'', tau fu, chicken with ginger and fried mixed vege egg.

After this delicious lunch we proceed with our visit. First i saw my favourite swing. When i was just a little girl, i always go to nearest playground with my best friend and swing swing swing. Of course, this moment cant wait to capture this down.

Before we depart to each of the farm or park, we go lepak-lepak take photos with umbreallas nearby the main entrance since is a GOOD weather. We are so lucky due to previous weather report we collected from websites most of the reports say it will rain heavily on that day instead it was a shiny day. UK agrofarm provides a minibus for us to ease us travel from one place to another place.

                                                        wishing goat

Passion fruit farm:
Then, we did visit the passion fruit farm. Guess what is another photo taking time. Hehehe... Everyone being forced by me to take individual photo with the passion fruit. However i found out there is two types of passion fruit. One of types is the typical that we can buy from market but another type which is the papaya like-shape. I forget ask what is the difference. That papaya-like shape passion fruit will fllower as shown below. the flower is purb

\
odd shape passion fruit ( papaya like-shape) with pretty purple flower.

Inside this agrofarm, there are lots of place u can visit, eg.: passion fruit farm, herbs santuary, ostrich park, goats and sheeps farm, mushroom garden, jakun village.

Ostrich park:
For ostrich park, first time i get to get so close with the ostrich and also the first time i saw the big ostrich egg. We were given vegetables and can feed them. They are so strong when they grab the vegetables from you. A new thing we discover how the ostrich drink the water. First they bent their neck down and try to put as much water as possible in their mouth. Then make their neck straight to let the water flow down into their stomach.

Jakun Village:
In this village, full of orang asli ethnic's culture, tree houses, their atap house and hunting traps. They perform how they hunt animal as their food by using breath taking blowpipe, and also demonstrate the use of hunting traps. Besides, there is a souvenir shop that sells the toys that they used to play.

Sheep and goat farms:
In the greengrass land, you see flock of sheeps and goats grazing under the nice weather imagine you are like travel in new zealand, of course the feeling is much more different with new zealand. When you cant manage to travel to this country here you can experience more or less the same thing. The sheeps and goats are so cute. Besides, they have many types of goats and sheeps like Toggenburg, Merino, etc. Inside this farm, we are allowed to feed the goats and sheep with milks and also we get a chance to hold the baby goat. I have experience how to carry a baby, a real baby but i never try to hold baby goat before.

among the all, you are always special and sexy with your SEXY lips...hehehe.....
Mushroom vege farm:
Yummy mushroom...i like mushroom especially abalone mushroom. Nearby the mushroom farm there is a wishing tree. Above the wishing tree has a tree hunt. Well it is always my dream to have a tree house as a private area. In this farm, they plant various type of mushroom eg.: litchi, abalone mushroom, umbrella mushroom etc. After the tour, mushroom farm staff prepared us mushroom snacks and tea. Beside the farm, they also sold souvenirs and has many artificial mushroom decoration. So we decided to take a mushroom family photos.

After a tiring visit throughout so many farms and parks, finally we are leaving to MELACCA. YEAH!!!
Everyone is tired, hungry and of course excited as well. All the way we head to Melacca, i was wondering the hotel we are going to check in. Since the boss keep asking us when are we arriving, and i mimic my supervisor, on the way on the way, soon arriving to make him keep the car parking for us. You know melacca is always so crowded and hard to find parking, we have to ask the boss to reserve 2 parking lots for us. The hotel we stayed is near jonker street, so that at night we don't need drive here and there, we just need our feet...^^ It was been many years...hmm...let me think..is more than ten years i have not been here. Many places i have never been to. I wish to but time limitation i can only travel next time. The whole trip mainly is eat eat eat trip..kekekeke....When we first arrive, we check in to the hotel call Da Som Inn which opened by a korean but the decoration is fusion with korean, japan, baba nyonya. Two pairs of couples able to check in earlier, left 4 of us waiting our room. There you goes, our room..tatatada~~~

Then, we walk to jonker streets as every night there is night market. The lighting over there is so nice and it still have the dragon decorations. Everywhere you will see the trishaw putting musics on. Various types of songs hitz song, love song like titanics... Trishaws are decorated

Everywhere you will see the trishaw putting musics on. Various types of songs hitz song, love song like titanics... Trishaws are beautifuly decorated and try to attract tourists with those songs. Along the jonker streets you can see many stalls selling nyonya food, durian pancakes, cendol, shops like jonker gallery.
After jonker street, we walk around and here we go we arrive melacca river. We pass by wind mill and christ church which just locate opposite the melacca river. There comes to the end of the day, everyone head back to the hotel and prepare for the next day activities.

26/2/2012:
Breakfast: Dim sum
Location: Beside Da Som Inn
Restaurant name: no idea (Lol)

In our planned schedule, second day is a eat eat eat day. So our next location is chicken rice ball. yum yum....slurps~~~ As we are still full, so we decided to order half chicken and 4 person of rice balls. If you ask me nice anot, compare to the normal or ipoh chicken rice, i would say ok lo..special in the rice ball.

After the so called brunch, chicken rice ball, we stop in front of the biggest biscuit shop, there is a place whr we can took photo that is --> 鸡场街. Then we walk to the Christ church as we are very full, we need some light exercise to digest and give space for the next meal. Kekekeke....

After walking around, is time to pack up our things, check out to proceed our next station which is dataran pahlawan, Afamosa and Nadeje (mille crepe). Honestly, i have never been to any histological places in melacca eventhough i went to melacca once during my childhood time. So christ church, A famosa are really my first time visit. There are plenty beautiful flower planted in front of the Christ church. Time to have group picture. Tadaa...all leng cai and leng luis...

Then, we arrive Nadeje (mille crepe), time to have some tea time with the yummy crepe and juice, especially at this hot weather. What is Mille crepe? Mille crepe = a thousand layer of very thin pancake. Mille crepe is popular throughtout France, also known as france cake. Well, honestly i don't knnow much about the story behind of this cake but for your information this cake is a hand-make cake, a true labour of love. Imagine every single layer of thin pancake to form this cake. When you taste it, it will melt in your mouth. Bear in mind this kind of cake, do not take away because it needs a special container to carry especially in Malaysia this hot weather.

Happy moment flying fast. After two days of non stop eating trip, it came to the end. The next coursemates' trip is awaiting and yet to be planned.

Happy moments and memories are treasured and being recorded down here, after 50 years we can look back our the "Young, Pretty, Handsome and Wild" look.
